My Daily Skin Care Routine

Posted by Ghie at Monday, April 12, 2010 3 comments
Before, for me washing my face with my regular facial wash is enough and I did not even considered my skin type when I bought it, I just grab it in the drugstore. I am not really familiar with the toner and moisturizer. I did not know that I must exfoliate my face twice to thrice a week. I did not know what mask are for and for me wearing them looks weird. And if I have a pimple I picked it, it is because I don't have enough knowledge regarding on how to take care of my skin properly.

Reading forums and blogs helped me lot. So now here's my skin care routine, for reference I have oily, sensitive and acne prone skin. Also, please remember that products that works for me might or might not work for you and vice versa.

In the morning I use Garnier PureA Scrub. It's OK for me to use it everyday since the beads is not that harsh. It has zinc and salicylic acid which is good to prevent my acne from coming back. After cleansing I use L'oreal Purezone Pore Tightening and Clarifying Lotion. It tightens the pores and helps even out the complexion. It has an anti-bacterial action and helps prevent the appearance of imperfections. It also has zinc and salicylic acid which is good for acne. To moisturize, I use Garnier PureA Daily Moisturizer click here for the review.

At night, I use Etude House Happy Tea Time Cleansing Cream in Milk Tea or Baby wipes to remove my face makeup and Petroleum Jelly to remove my eye makeup using a cotton buds. Then I wash my face with L'oreal Purezone Deep Purifying Gel Face Wash and tone with DIY ACV toner and moisturize with GNC VitC moisturizer. What I love about GNC VitC moisturizer is that it's not heavy nor greasy on the face, easy to spread and it really hydrates my skin.

Thrice a week I exfoliate my face using St. Ives Blemish and Blackhead Control Scrub.

Once a week I use mask, either Garnier Pure Self Heating Sauna Mask, Purederm Strawberry Yogurt mask, Purederm Dual Well Being Pack or Himalaya Neem Face Pack.

If I have a pimple I just apply my Garnier Pure SOS Blemish Clear Pen. Click here for the review.

That is my daily skin care routine.
Love lots,

My Sunsilk Damage Repair Sample Kit Arrived

Posted by Ghie at Monday, April 12, 2010 0 comments
At last! My Sunsilk Damage Repair System sample kit arrived. I wasn't really expecting it anymore since it's been a month after I registered, and it is really OK if ever I will not receive any because I did not pay for it.

I love the packaging and the fact that I got this products for FREE for a huge bottle, 200ml for both shampoo and conditioner (serum is not included in the kit).

Even before I received the kit, I've been using the shampoo and serum already and I love it. I love the packaging of the serum and when applied it's not heavy on hair and not it's greasy even it you put too much. The serum cost P150 (not sure but not more than P200) for 70ml.

Have a good day everyone

News: 6.2 Magnitude Earthquake hits Manila

Posted by Ghie at Thursday, March 25, 2010 0 comments

From Yahoo News

MANILA, Philippines – A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck west of Manila on Thursday, the seismology institute reported, causing buildings in the Philippine capital to shake and sending frightened workers out of their offices.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties, and no tsunami alert was issued. Buildings in Manila shook for about 30 seconds.

"Essentially, this would not trigger significant damage," said seismology institute Director Renato Solidum.

He said the quake was centered off Lubang Island in Mindoro Occidental province, about 80 miles (130 kilometers) southwest of Manila, six miles (10 kilometers) under the seabed.

The U.S. Geological Survey put the magnitude at 6.1 and depth at 21 miles (33 kilometers).

The Philippine archipelago lies in the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire where earthquakes are common. It is flanked by the Pacific Ocean to the east and the South China Sea to the west with undersea trenches — potential quake triggers — running alongside its coast on both sides.

The last major quake registered a magnitude 7.7 in 1990 and killed nearly 2,000 people on the main northern island of Luzon.

A 7.1-magnitude earthquake set off by a local fault whipped up a tsunami that killed 78 people on Mindoro in 1994.

I just hope no one hurts. Let's all pray for our safety.

Beauty Find: E.L.F. Studio Line Eye Primer and Liner Sealer

Posted by Ghie at Tuesday, March 23, 2010 0 comments
I love using eyeshadow but I need a good eye primer because my lids are so oily that my eyeshadow fade and crease easily. I read a good reviews about Urban Decay's Primer Potions but I can't afford to buy one, so I try to find a cheaper eye primer and I saw E.L.F. Studio Line Eye Primer and Liner Sealer.

E.L.F. (Eyes, Lips, Face) is an American cosmetic brand that's available here in the Philippines. I have some ELF products like their professional eyeshadow and blending eye blush which I love, lipgloss, concealer, eyeliner, bronzer and eyeshadow quad. Their products are very affordable and also has a good quality but not all of them are available iin my country. When I saw that we already have their studio line eye primer, I bought one because I really wanted to have an eye primer and I am very excited to try it because you get two products in the price of one.

From the packaging:

  • Gives you lasting eye color that won't smudge or budge
  • Eye Primer sets your eyeshadow so it won't fade, bleed or crease
  • Liner Sealer transforms your eyeshadow into a waterproof, smudge proof liquid eyeliner

Directions:
  • Use the primer side to create a base for your eyeshadow. Apply to lid and blend in.\
  • Use the seal side and mix your favorite eyeshadow color with the brush and apply to lash line as a liner. For best result, wipe off and clean applicator before closing. remove with eye makeup remover.

My Verdict:

Eye Primer

  • The eye primer looks like a concealer stick as well as the consistency so I don't have to wait for it dry, I can apply my eyeshadows as soon I have blended it in to my lids. I love the packaging because you will not waste too much product and I can apply it easily. It also made the colors of my eyeshadow more vibrant and easy to blend. The sad part is that, my eyeshadow starts to crease after 4 hours. I thought this eye primer is a catch but it failed me, it didn't work for my oily lids, too bad Smiley

Liner Sealer

  • On the other end of the eye primer is the liner sealer which transforms eyeshadow to a liquid eyeliner. The sealer comes in a transparent liquid with white stiff brush as an applicator. I tried to test it and I can say that I like it because I can now use different colors of eyeliner using this product. Also, when I swatched the eyeliner, I tried to rub it as hard as I can, it did not smudge and it didn't fade. After using it, I tried to remove the eyeshadow stain using a tissue but it didn't come off, as you can see in the picture above it still has an eyeshadow stain.

Will I buy it again?

  • No, because it didn't worked for my oily lids even though I love the liner sealer. I purchased it for the primer not for the sealer.

Have a nice day.
Love lots,

Now What?! Acne Marks?

Posted by Ghie at Thursday, March 11, 2010 0 comments

I read from a testomonial, one says "Acne is a serious problem and it is not fun!" I say "as well as acne marks".

Having visible, reddish, pigmented pimple marks or blemishes is as bad as having an acne. Even if I knew that I do not have an acne anymore, most people think that I still have it because the redness is still there. They need to touch my face for them to know that I am acne free and what they're seeing are marks or tell them that "hey I don't have an acne anymore these are acne marks!" of course that is not possible. Like acne it lowers my self confidence. I need a good concealer if I want to cover them up I don't like putting to much makeup because that might break me out and even if I did I don't like to put concealers forever.

Here's more they say that if I still have this redness in may face there's a possibility that my acne will come back, how good is that?! Smiley

I am really desperate to reduce my acne marks. I tried several moisturizer but it didn't work and some cause me breakouts. Can anyone suggest anything that's effective and affordable products that I can use?

Hoping,

Beauty Find: Garnier Pure A Daily Moisturizer Anti-Impecfection

Posted by Ghie at Thursday, March 11, 2010 0 comments
Currently I am using L'oreal Pure Zone Toner and L'oreal Pure Zone Facial wash (which I will be reviewing soon) and I wanted to try the Pure Zone Moisturizer because I think I need a moisturizer that can help prevent my pimples from coming back, but it's a little bit pricey for me. When I purchased my Garnier PureA Face Scrub, I saw this moisturizer, I read the label and description and it says that it has salicylic acid like L'oreal. I did not purchase it yet because I was hesitant to give it try because Garnier Light Cream broke me out but few days after I decided to buy it haha.

From the Packaging:
  • treats oily skin
  • refines pores
  • eliminates imperfections
Garnier Pure Actives:
  • Garnier Pure has 100% natural cucumber extracts for its refreshing and moisturizing actions, Salicylic acid and zinc both for their purifying and regulating properties. This combination of natural actives helps to treat deep down key causes of oily and combination skin problems
How is it different?
  • Garnier PureA Daily Moisturizer is specially formulated for skin that is prone to imperfections, visible pores or blotches.
How does it work?
  • Its formula with salicylic acid and zinc eliminates imperfections without irritating the skin and prevents them from reappearing. Its light and non-greasy texture is instantly absorbed to hydrate the skin, refines pores and even skin tone. day after day the skin feels comfortable and well hydrated, imperfections disappear, pores are refined.
My Verdict:
  • I've been using this moisturizer for almost a month and I like it because it has salicylic acid and zinc which is good for oily and acne prone skin and it did not broke me out . This moisturizer is light and not greasy and it has cooling effect when applied and very easy to spread. It easily absorbed by the skin and I only need a pea size for my whole face. I also like the packaging because it has a "pin-like" tip (sorry I don't know the term for that LOL!) with a tiny hole so that you will not waste a lot of product. This is also 50% cheaper than L'oreal Pure Zone moisturizer yay!

What I like:
  • It has salicylic acid and zinc good for people with oily and acne prone skin like me
  • It's light on the skin
  • Not greasy
  • Easy to spread
  • A little goes a long way
  • The consistency is not too thick but not too runny.
  • The squeezy tube has a "pin-like" tip with a small hole so that not prodcust will be wasted
  • It has light scent that I did not even noticed (good for people with sensitive nose)
  • Affordable, 50ml for P229
  • Locally available
What I hate:
  • No spf

That's it for now, until my next blog.
Love lots,

Beauty Find: Purederm BB Cream

Posted by Ghie at Tuesday, March 09, 2010 0 comments

Coverage: Light to medium coverage
Texture: A bit runny and easy to blend
Shade: It has only one shade but it blends to your skin after a few minutes
Undertone: golden undertone
Fragrance: no weird smell
Oil-control: since I have an oily skin, oil-control is 3-4 hours in an air-conditioned room, 1-2 hours outside
Dewy-ness: dewy finish
SPF: SPF30 PA++

Description from Barenaturals:

Antioxidant
Soft and gentle to the skin

Moisturizes and protects skin
Improves fine lines and wrinkles

Water-proof, stays on your skin even when you sweat
Mattifies the skin, controls the oil

No weird smell (it has neutral smell, no strong “cosmetic-ish” nor herbal smell)

Herbal Ingredients:

Beeswax
Morus Alba Root Extract
Pueraria lobata root extr

Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract
Chrysanthemum Indicum Extract
Camellia sinensis leaf extract
Bentonite
Tocopheryl Acetate
Hyaluronic Acid
Adenosine
Vitamin E derivatives

How I use it: I use this every morning before I went to work. After I cleanse, tone and moisturize, I apply a pea size amount of this bb cream in my entire face. Since, this bb cream has a medium coverage, it cannot cover my blemishes completely so I still need to apply concealer but not too much. Then, I top it off with my mineral finishing powder or if I want a full coverage I apply mineral foundation after my bb cream.

My Opinion: This is the first bb cream that I tried. I use this everyday as my tinted moisturizer, foundation and sunblock in one. You only need a small amount for the entire face and it is easy to blend. In my opinion this bb cream is good for people with dry to normal skin, but for someone like me who has a very oily skin you might not like this because the oil-control properties is not good. In an air-conditioned room I started oiling up 3-4 hours after application. One thing I love in this bb cream is that even if I have super oily, sensitive and acne prone skin, this did not caused me breakouts or even whiteheads, it does not even irritate my skin nor my made my pimples worst.

What I like:

  • Locally available at barenaturals and in my multiply site (I resell barenaturals)
  • It has spf30, so no need for me to use sunblock (I know that I still need to use one but I don't want to put too much in my face because it might cause me breakouts)
  • Easy to blend
  • It has a dewy finish that made my face look natural and glowing
  • Don't caused me breakouts or even whiteheads
  • It has organic ingredients which is good for the skin
  • A little goes a long way, a pea size of this bb cream is enough for the entire face.
  • The packaging comes in a squeezy tube
What I don't like:
  • For me oil control is not good since I have a super oily skin.
  • I have blemishes that I need to conceal so i prefer bb creams with full coverage
  • It has whitish cast
  • A bit runny
Will you recommend this?
  • Yes, for people with dry to normal skin and for those who have nothing to conceal or don't need too much coverage.
Will I buy it again?
  • There's a lot of bb creams out there that I must try, something that has good oil-control properties, has better coverage and most importantly, will not breakout me out.
Adventure status:
  • I am still searching for good bb creams. I tried Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream and Ecorre BB Cream but both caused me bumps and whiteheads. Can you recommend a good one?

Thanks a lot and have a nice day!
Love lots,

Beauty Find: Garnier Pure SOS Blemish Clear Pen

Posted by Ghie at Monday, March 01, 2010 4 comments
Hi there... Here's another anti-pimple product that I am using. I am a sucker for skincare products because of my pimples, no I mean cystic pimples.

Since I stopped using beauche to let my skin rest for a while, a few bumps starts to appear again. I tried using a Benzoyl Peroxide to treat my pimples but it made my face flakey and it leaves dark pimple marks. I also tried using Eskinol Dermaclear C Overnight Pimple Gel, I felt a stinging sensation when I applied it and it even made me shed a tear everytime I use it, funny but true, it's really horrible. Despite of that, I did not stopped using it because I thought it is effective because of the salicylic acid but I noticed that it also leaves a dark pimple marks. Yes, it is affordable but for me it is not effective so I have to drop it.

Until I found Garnier Pure SOS Blemish Clear Pen

From the Packaging:
  • Reduces imperfection in just five hours
  • Softens marks
  • Dermatologically tested
Ingredients:
  • contains zinc for its controlling properties, an anti-bacterial agent for its cleansing power, and 100% natural cucumber extract for its energizing and skin-hydrating qualities. Source: http://skinnaturals.garnier.ca
To use: Source: http://skinnaturals.garnier.ca

  1. First cleanse your face and thoroughly dry it. Apply Garnier Pure Shine Control Moisturizer and then use the Garnier Pure SOS Anti-Blemish Spot Pen directly on the blemishes.
  2. Give it a few seconds to react.
  3. Finally, add your makeup (foundation, powder, etc.). And no matter how much makeup you use, the results will always be the same! Reuse during the day, if you feel your blemish needs it.
This is how the actual product looked like

My Verdict:
When I used it for the first time, I observed if I can see a result after 5 hours just like what they claim and I found no visible result, but its OK because I didn't expect that to happen anyway, I just wanted to test it. So I applied it again before I went to bed and I can say that for me it is effective because it lessen the redness and inflammation of my pimples overnight. I felt a cool and stinging sensation but it's bearable (no tears dropped when I used this) and it goes away after a few seconds. As for the packaging, it has a “lip-gloss-like”, slanted tip tube to make application more easy and with the 10ml tube, I can easily slip it to my kit. Also, it is sticky that I have to wait for it to dry (I mean really dry) before I can put my makeup on because the powder or foundation will stick to it, that's why I prefer to use it before I went to bed.

What I like:
  • It was in a transparent gel form so I can still put makeup over it if I wanted it to use in the morning
  • Inexpensive for only P179 (appox $4)
  • Locally available
  • A little goes a long way and you don't need to put too much
  • It lessen the redness and inflammation of my pimples overnight (it's still a pro even if it's not in 5 hours)
  • Does not sting too much
  • Does not leave dark pimple marks
What I don't like:
  • Sticky, so I prefer not to use it under my makeup.
Will I buy it again?
  • Yes, definitely. I am loving it to bits.
Will I recommend it?
  • Yes, it's really worth a try.

Love lots,
