Beauty Find: E.L.F. Studio Line Eye Primer and Liner Sealer

Posted by Ghie at Tuesday, March 23, 2010 0 comments
I love using eyeshadow but I need a good eye primer because my lids are so oily that my eyeshadow fade and crease easily. I read a good reviews about Urban Decay's Primer Potions but I can't afford to buy one, so I try to find a cheaper eye primer and I saw E.L.F. Studio Line Eye Primer and Liner Sealer.

E.L.F. (Eyes, Lips, Face) is an American cosmetic brand that's available here in the Philippines. I have some ELF products like their professional eyeshadow and blending eye blush which I love, lipgloss, concealer, eyeliner, bronzer and eyeshadow quad. Their products are very affordable and also has a good quality but not all of them are available iin my country. When I saw that we already have their studio line eye primer, I bought one because I really wanted to have an eye primer and I am very excited to try it because you get two products in the price of one.

From the packaging:

  • Gives you lasting eye color that won't smudge or budge
  • Eye Primer sets your eyeshadow so it won't fade, bleed or crease
  • Liner Sealer transforms your eyeshadow into a waterproof, smudge proof liquid eyeliner

Directions:
  • Use the primer side to create a base for your eyeshadow. Apply to lid and blend in.\
  • Use the seal side and mix your favorite eyeshadow color with the brush and apply to lash line as a liner. For best result, wipe off and clean applicator before closing. remove with eye makeup remover.

My Verdict:

Eye Primer

  • The eye primer looks like a concealer stick as well as the consistency so I don't have to wait for it dry, I can apply my eyeshadows as soon I have blended it in to my lids. I love the packaging because you will not waste too much product and I can apply it easily. It also made the colors of my eyeshadow more vibrant and easy to blend. The sad part is that, my eyeshadow starts to crease after 4 hours. I thought this eye primer is a catch but it failed me, it didn't work for my oily lids, too bad Smiley

Liner Sealer

  • On the other end of the eye primer is the liner sealer which transforms eyeshadow to a liquid eyeliner. The sealer comes in a transparent liquid with white stiff brush as an applicator. I tried to test it and I can say that I like it because I can now use different colors of eyeliner using this product. Also, when I swatched the eyeliner, I tried to rub it as hard as I can, it did not smudge and it didn't fade. After using it, I tried to remove the eyeshadow stain using a tissue but it didn't come off, as you can see in the picture above it still has an eyeshadow stain.

Will I buy it again?

  • No, because it didn't worked for my oily lids even though I love the liner sealer. I purchased it for the primer not for the sealer.

Have a nice day.
Love lots,

Beauty Find: Garnier Pure A Daily Moisturizer Anti-Impecfection

Posted by Ghie at Thursday, March 11, 2010 0 comments
Currently I am using L'oreal Pure Zone Toner and L'oreal Pure Zone Facial wash (which I will be reviewing soon) and I wanted to try the Pure Zone Moisturizer because I think I need a moisturizer that can help prevent my pimples from coming back, but it's a little bit pricey for me. When I purchased my Garnier PureA Face Scrub, I saw this moisturizer, I read the label and description and it says that it has salicylic acid like L'oreal. I did not purchase it yet because I was hesitant to give it try because Garnier Light Cream broke me out but few days after I decided to buy it haha.

From the Packaging:
  • treats oily skin
  • refines pores
  • eliminates imperfections
Garnier Pure Actives:
  • Garnier Pure has 100% natural cucumber extracts for its refreshing and moisturizing actions, Salicylic acid and zinc both for their purifying and regulating properties. This combination of natural actives helps to treat deep down key causes of oily and combination skin problems
How is it different?
  • Garnier PureA Daily Moisturizer is specially formulated for skin that is prone to imperfections, visible pores or blotches.
How does it work?
  • Its formula with salicylic acid and zinc eliminates imperfections without irritating the skin and prevents them from reappearing. Its light and non-greasy texture is instantly absorbed to hydrate the skin, refines pores and even skin tone. day after day the skin feels comfortable and well hydrated, imperfections disappear, pores are refined.
My Verdict:
  • I've been using this moisturizer for almost a month and I like it because it has salicylic acid and zinc which is good for oily and acne prone skin and it did not broke me out . This moisturizer is light and not greasy and it has cooling effect when applied and very easy to spread. It easily absorbed by the skin and I only need a pea size for my whole face. I also like the packaging because it has a "pin-like" tip (sorry I don't know the term for that LOL!) with a tiny hole so that you will not waste a lot of product. This is also 50% cheaper than L'oreal Pure Zone moisturizer yay!

What I like:
  • It has salicylic acid and zinc good for people with oily and acne prone skin like me
  • It's light on the skin
  • Not greasy
  • Easy to spread
  • A little goes a long way
  • The consistency is not too thick but not too runny.
  • The squeezy tube has a "pin-like" tip with a small hole so that not prodcust will be wasted
  • It has light scent that I did not even noticed (good for people with sensitive nose)
  • Affordable, 50ml for P229
  • Locally available
What I hate:
  • No spf

That's it for now, until my next blog.
Love lots,

How I use it: I use this every morning before I went to work. After I cleanse, tone and moisturize, I apply a pea size amount of this bb cream in my entire face. Since, this bb cream has a medium coverage, it cannot cover my blemishes completely so I still need to apply concealer but not too much. Then, I top it off with my mineral finishing powder or if I want a full coverage I apply mineral foundation after my bb cream.

My Opinion: This is the first bb cream that I tried. I use this everyday as my tinted moisturizer, foundation and sunblock in one. You only need a small amount for the entire face and it is easy to blend. In my opinion this bb cream is good for people with dry to normal skin, but for someone like me who has a very oily skin you might not like this because the oil-control properties is not good. In an air-conditioned room I started oiling up 3-4 hours after application. One thing I love in this bb cream is that even if I have super oily, sensitive and acne prone skin, this did not caused me breakouts or even whiteheads, it does not even irritate my skin nor my made my pimples worst.

What I like:

  • Locally available at barenaturals and in my multiply site (I resell barenaturals)
  • It has spf30, so no need for me to use sunblock (I know that I still need to use one but I don't want to put too much in my face because it might cause me breakouts)
  • Easy to blend
  • It has a dewy finish that made my face look natural and glowing
  • Don't caused me breakouts or even whiteheads
  • It has organic ingredients which is good for the skin
  • A little goes a long way, a pea size of this bb cream is enough for the entire face.
  • The packaging comes in a squeezy tube
What I don't like:
  • For me oil control is not good since I have a super oily skin.
  • I have blemishes that I need to conceal so i prefer bb creams with full coverage
  • It has whitish cast
  • A bit runny
Will you recommend this?
  • Yes, for people with dry to normal skin and for those who have nothing to conceal or don't need too much coverage.
Will I buy it again?
  • There's a lot of bb creams out there that I must try, something that has good oil-control properties, has better coverage and most importantly, will not breakout me out.
Adventure status:
  • I am still searching for good bb creams. I tried Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream and Ecorre BB Cream but both caused me bumps and whiteheads. Can you recommend a good one?

Thanks a lot and have a nice day!
Love lots,

Beauty Find: Beauche

Posted by Ghie at Monday, March 01, 2010 6 comments
As I have mentioned in my previous blog, I suffered from a major breakout during 'ber' months because of my crazy hormones. Cystic pimples popped out every now and then. The soap that I currently using made my skin worst so I have to find a new regimen for my acne.

I read about Beauche in Girltalk but despite of good reviews I still having doubts to try it. According to beauche users, after 3-4 days of usage you will experience purging and peeling stage which I hate the most, and some says that once you stopped using it your pimples will go back. So I ignored beauche, I tried several facial washes, toners and creams to cure my acne but none of them worked and my acne got even worst.

One day I finally decided to give beauche a try since my acne is already worst. I went to Quiapo to buy Beauche Beauty Bar, Clarifying Lotion and Rejuvenating cream (I did not bought the whole set).

Photo form Beauche International Website

From the site: It cleanses skin and helps eliminate pimples, skin pigmentation, white heads and black heads. It restores the skin’s elasticity and suppleness when it is exposed to wind, UV rays or high temperatures.
Ingredients: Mixed Fruit Extracts, Virgin Coconut Oil, Sodium Lactate, Essential Oils
My Opinion: This soap is looked like kojic soap, so I needed to label my soap dish to distinguish which is which. I felt that tight-clean feeling after using it and I find it a bit drying.

Photo form Beauche International Website

From the site: Is a deep cleansing agent. It has Vit. A and has tightening effect on your face. It tightens pores, leaving skin smoother, firmer, and more finely-textured restoring the vitality of the skin.
Ingredients: Tretinoin, Vit. A & C, Natural Extracts in Hydro-alcohol Base
My Opinion: I felt a stinging sensation when I applied this, especially if I have fresh pimples but it only last for a second or two.

From the site: Improves the skin’s ability to remain young and glowing with natural moisture. It does not only eliminate excess pools of pigment, it also prevents unwanted skin color (melanin) from being formed in the first place.
Ingredients: Vitamin A & C, Milk Lactates, Tocopherol Acetate (Vit. E), Petrolatum, Stearyl-cethyl Alcohol
My Opinion: Same with the Clarifying Lotion, there's a stinging sensation when applied. I only needed a small amount of this because a little goes a long way with this cream.

My Verdict:

I used this for a month and I can say that this products worked for me. and this is very affordable also. Eventhough I hate purging and peeling stage, it's still worth it. My pimples are already gone but the blemishes and pimple marks are still there maybe because I did not use the exfoliating cream. Right now I stopped using beauche to let my skin rest for a while but I will use it again after two weeks. I think I need to try exfoliating cream also for my blemishes.

Disclaimer:
Beauche pictures in this blog are form Beauche International Website . The beauche products that I used has been purchased by me I am not affiliated to Beauche International. My opinions and reviews that I wrote in this blog is based on my own experience using this product. I will post my own picture of beauche as soon as I bought it since I run out of it.

Love lots,

Beauty Find: Pressed Face Mask

Posted by Ghie at Tuesday, February 23, 2010 0 comments
A few months ago ('ber' months actually) I suffered from a major breakout and right now I still have a few pimples to cure. I have read from sis thiamere about the tomato mask. I want to try it, but in her post she used a pressed face mask that she bought at Saizen in Robinson's Galleria and I'm way too far from that mall. I really wanted to go to Galleria just to buy that face mask.

Last Sunday, I went to Landmark Makati to meet my client, while waiting for her (since I arrived too early) I went to the beauty section to buy Life and Companion eye crease brush and an empty bottle for my ACV toner. Next to the empty bottles I found these

At first I really don't know what they are because the product description was written in Chinese, I thought it's a blemish patch that I always saw in Watson's. Out of curiosity I started to read the instruction (good thing it was written in English) on how to use this, still thinking that this is a blemish patch. While reading I figured out that this is the pressed face mask that I am dying to buy at Saizen. I'm so excited that I bought 3 packs of these babies (1 pack contains 12 pressed face mask), since it only cost P40 (less than $1). I really don't know the difference between the pink and the blue packaging so I grabbed both together with my empty bottle, spatula and the hard-to-find Life and companion eye crease brush.

Here's how it looked like, sorry for a blur picture, I just used my Sony Ericsson K810i phone to capture the image.

And here's my DIY tomato mask

and this is how the pressed mask looked like when opened

This is it for now... Until my next blog

Love lots,
